Spearheaded by Philippines' first ever Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, the Philippines will compete in weightlifting at the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
The Philippine weightlifting team will send 13 athletes which is composed of 6 male and 7 female weightlifters.
Competing for the women's events are Mary Flor Diaz (45 kg), Rosegie Ramos (49 kg), Hidilyn Diaz (55 kg), Margaret Colonia (59 kg), Elreen Ann Ando (64 kg), Vanessa Sarno (71 kg), and Kristel Macrohon (+71 kg).
Meanwhile, competing for the men's division are Fernando Agad Jr. (55 kg), Rowel Garcia (61 kg), Nestor Colonia (67 kg), Lemon Denmark Tarro (73 kg), John Paul Padullo (89 kg), and John Dexter Tabique (+89 kg).
The Philippines is aiming for four (4) to five (5) gold medals in weightlifting with minimum target of two gold medals.
The weightlifting competition will be held in Hanoi from May 19 to 22 with 14 events.
At the 2019 SEA Games in Manila, the team Philippines collected 7 medals including the two gold medals.
