The World Athletics Championships was held in Oregon, United States from 15th to 24th of July.
Eight Southeast Asian athletes competed in the said event. Malaysia sent two athletes while Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, East Timor and Vietnam sent one athlete each.
The Philippines is the most successful SEA campaigner at this year's edition because of 2020 Tokyo pole vaulter Ernest John Obiena who managed to capture the bronze medal in his event.
He becomes the first Filipino to win a medal in the world championships resetting his Asian record with a clearance of 5.94 meters.
